New Security Officers: The Guard Card is the basic security license issued by the California Bureau of Security & Investigative Services. Guard Card training is the first step new guards must complete in order to submit their application to the State of California. While Guard Card license allows applicants to work as an unarmed security officer, it does not include specialized training for any specific assignment. To bridge that gap, AEGIS has developed the following bundles available: Executive Protection, Nightlife & Events, School Security, Security Supervisor, Emergency Response, and Crime Prevention.

Before November 29th, 2023, the first 8 hours (Powers to Arrest & Weapons of Mass Destruction) are available online.
After November 30th, 2023, the first 8 hours (Powers to Arrest & Use of Force) must be completed in person, in a classroom setting, with an instructor physically present, at an authorized training facility. AEGIS does not currently offer Powers to Arrest & Use of Force.

Step 1: After completing live Powers to Arrest & Use of Force training, all Californa Guard Card applicants are required to:
  • Obtain a Live Scan DOJ/FBI background check by a certified Live Scan operator : https://oag.ca.gov/fingerprints/locations
  • Apply for California Bureau of Security and Investigations Guard Card Online: https://www.bsis.ca.gov/licenses.shtml
