Weapons of Security on Campus 

Maintaining a weapon-free educational environment is one of the most important responsibilities of school security personnel.

This module provides participants with practical knowledge of the laws regulating firearms and other dangerous weapons on or near school property. Participants will learn how Gun Free School Zones are established, how firearm restrictions apply to playgrounds, which weapons and injurious objects are prohibited on campus, and how the legal definition of possession affects security decisions and incident reporting.

• P.C. 626.10 – Other Weapons 
• Injurious Objects 
• Attorney General Opinion 96-906 – Definition of Possession
  
   By the end of this module, participants will have a stronger understanding of California weapon laws affecting educational environments and will be better prepared to identify potential violations, apply school policies, and respond appropriately to weapon-related incidents while supporting campus safety.
