Dynamics of Gangs

Gangs can influence student behavior, campus safety, and the overall learning environment in ways that are not always obvious at first glance. Security professionals play a key role in identifying concerns early, responding calmly during incidents, and supporting school staff with accurate documentation and prevention-focused practices. 

 In this module, students build practical awareness of how gang culture can affect students and how to recognize behavioral indicators that may signal involvement. The module also reinforces professional intervention strategies, including de-escalation approaches that prioritize safety while reducing the chance of escalation. Finally, students learn how to report concerns appropriately and support prevention efforts that help reduce gang-related activity on campus.
